Optometry lab

In these modern equipped labs, students of optometry are trained in the practical skills of optometrists. This includes the investigation of visual function, application of contact lenses, investigatiion of both the front and posterior segment of the eye, handling of optometric and ophthalmic instruments and other activities. The technical part of the laboratory is devoted to the training of activities associated with the repairing and fabrication of corrective aids.

The laboratory serves for an intensive training program for the 1st and 2nd year students focused on acquiring basic routines. These skills are then further developed and improved during the 3rd year of study. Students conduct vision investigation under the supervision of their teachers, apply contact lenses and produce corrective aids for external figurants who provide feedback on the accuracy of  solutions to their visual problems.

Equipment:

• Two fully equipped investigation sites (projector / polatest Carl Zeiss, trial set, slit lamp with accessories, ophthalmoscope, fluoroscope keratometer, refractometer, tonometer)
• computer perimeter
• funduscamera with connection to PC
• keratograph OCULUS
• trial set of hard and soft contact lenses
• accessories for comprehensive examination of binocular vision (prismatic bars, stereotests, polarized tests, Maddox cross and cylinder, Worth's lights, ...)
• Digital and manual focometers
• Manual/automatic grindstone of optical lenses ESSILOR and other equipment for the production and repair of glasses
• Full range of training spectacle frames, lenses and spare parts for the activities related to the making and repairing correction aids

In the near future we plan an expansion of the number of investigation sites and instrumentation facilities in accordance with the international standards.
