Department of Optics has more than 40 years of tradition of outstanding research in optics and its members conduct cutting edge theoretical and experimental research in optical quantum information processing, quantum optics, quantum tomography, quantum light-matter interaction, quantum optomechanics, wave-front sensitive detection methods, digital holography, non-diffracting optical beams, optical signal processing, and Raman spectroscopy. The Department receives substantial funding from Czech Government, EU and various Grant Agencies, and it is a major optical research centre in Czech Republic.
The Department offers a suite of study programs designed to fullfill requirements of a wide range of students and prepare them for a successful carrier in acedemia or industry. In particular, we offer study in programs Optics and Optoelectronics, Digital and Instrumental Optics, General Physics and Mathematical Physics, and Optometry. Prospective international students are encouraged to contact the Head of Department Professor Jaromír Fiurášek or the study advisors for more information.
